Calling all misfit writers and artists:

Black Market Lit is a place where your orphaned or outlawed creative works can find their home.   We seek stories, poems and media unafraid to take chances - work that falls outside of what might be considered conventional or tame.  We crave work that resides under beds, in the back of journals and within encrypted desktop files. We want to experience work that is provocative, passionate, risky and full of life.  This is a home for the non-literary and the off-beat.  We are here to showcase your honest, eclectic masterpieces.

TO SUBMIT:

In the case of simultaneous submissions, we allow no more than three submissions per category and no more than five submissions in all genres.  Please feel free to submit in multiple categories, but mind the five submission limit.

Black Market Lit is an electronic journal, and to submit to any of our categories, email your submissions as attachments to blackmarketlit@gmail.com.  In the subject line, please state your name and the category in which you are submitting.  Please have separate Word documents for each genre if you plan to submit to multiple categories.  If you have multiple submissions for one category, feel free to submit them all in one document.

We will be accepting submissions in the following categories:

Fiction

Any genre, any style, but keep it under 5,000 words.  All flash fiction must be under 750 words.

Poetry

Up to three submissions per person.  Other than that, go wild.

Visual / Video

Video submissions should be limited to 10 - 15 minutes in length.

Audio / Music

Up to three lyric or song submissions per person.  Music videos may be submitted under this category or the visual / video category depending on the cinematography.

Art / Photography

Up to three submissions per person. Please, no nudity, erotica, or gore.

Miscellaneous

For all of your undefined or alternative creative pursuits.  Same restrictions apply: under 5,000 words, 15 minutes, and no more than three submissions per person.  Side note, we would love to see some multi media / multi genre submissions.  Shameless plea.

Please give the editors approximately three weeks after the due date to respond to your submissions.

If you have any other questions, concerns, or want more information, feel free to contact us at blackmarketlit@gmail.com

We cannot wait to read your work!
